County Criminal Research

A specific search of county court records for felony or misdemeanor court dispositions. Requires hands-on research of physical/digital records from a county courthouse to determine if the applicant has a record. Selection of county research may be established as default on the client’s profile or location. Research can be added automatically based on previous address information or physically added by the Human Resource staff based on information provided in the employment application. County felony and misdemeanor searches remain the most accurate criminal records check available.

Federal Criminal Research

A search of federal records can stretch statewide or nationally, but matching identifiers are not readily available. Violations of federal law are usually not found in county records, with location of the information depending on jurisdiction. The federal court system is organized by districts, with a search similar to that of county records.

Multi-State Criminal and Sex Offender Database Check

GroupOne offers a multi-state investigation providing the speed of a criminal database search with the scope of several states. This is not a national search, since many states do not provide access to all criminal records. A wise choice would be to utilize this research in support of county searches.

Statewide Criminal Database Checks

Many states maintain repositories of criminal information submitted by county courts and local law enforcement. The Department of Health and Human Services and other regulatory bodies require these be checked for certain positions. GroupOne conducts these searches, but does not recommend using them as primary sources.

The sex offender registry is a repository of this information displaying current addresses rather than the location of offenses. Not all states maintain these registries as a matter of public record.

An applicant’s Social Security number is verified and validated using two methods. Credit header information is obtained from a variety of sources. Each Social Security number record is also validated against Social Security Administration’s Master Death Index.
