When terrible tragedy strikes like the bombings at this week’s Boston Marathon, heroes rise to the occasion to provide protection, safety and medical attention. First responders, emergency workers and trauma teams were prepared and saved many lives.

As we learned last week in Irving, Texas, first responders, trauma teams, hospitals and communities could rise to the occasion as they quickly attended to the injured in the horrible highway bus accident.

Our region is blessed with caring first responders, emergency physicians, trauma unit teams and support personnel. Here at GroupOne, it is our job to assist healthcare providers find the right people for such occasions. Like the heroic trauma teams in Boston, these dedicated employees are prepared for the unexpected emergence of tragedy. At this very moment, patients are alive because they received immediate treatment from brave and competent medical emergency teams.

Through the sadness of these tragedies, we find a sense of pride with the tireless efforts to bravely respond. This inspires us at GroupOne to do the best possible job we can for our clients. When tragedy emerges, we all must be dependent on the workers of our crucial emergency teams.

The staff of the GroupOne extends sympathies and prayers for the victims and its deep gratitude to the many heroes in Boston.

Mitigate risk and allow GroupOne to run your federal and state compliance checks. With Home Care prohibited from hiring employees excluded by the government, GroupOne has created a useful federal and state compliance check package that screens existing employees against multiple sanction lists. We check OIG/HHS, GSA, OFAC and terrorist lists, plus more than 100 other federal and state agencies.

The federal compliance check package has a multi-pronged attack starting with the GSA Excluded Parties List System search. The OIG List of Excluded Individuals/Entities database, providing information to healthcare entities about those individuals excluded from participation in Medicare and Medicaid, will also be checked. The package concludes with a check of the U.S. Treasury Department Terrorist List and the Office of Foreign Assets Control List (OFAC), which screens applicants against the government “Terrorist List.” If applicable to your state, we will run additional searches to include DADS, DEA, state nurse registries, misconduct list, nurse aide registries and nursing home administrator registries.

GroupOne’s Home Care Compliance Checks will save time, with discount pricing available. You will also have individualized frequency, decreased legal exposure and paperless reporting. For more information, please contact GroupOne at 1-800-683-0255. You can also e-mail Kim Hines, National Account Manager, at khines@gp1.com.

Health policy expert and media commentator Dr. Mike Magee will serve as the keynote speaker.
